CENTRO: 100 Puerto Ricans Oral History Project, 2013-
Venegas speaks of the need that she saw in the community for adequate training and education for therapists and the need for proper treatment of the patients. Occupational therapy in facilities was inadequate or non-existent. At the time, traditional thinking established that the elderly only needed to be kept clean and fed, and no one thought to keep them active.
