Interview with Lydia Valencia on May 10, 2016, Segment 18
CENTRO: 100 Puerto Ricans Oral History Project, 2013-
Valencia talks about her main achievements during her 26-year tenure as President and CEO of the Puerto Rican Congress of New Jersey (PRC). She is proud to have seen the organization through many lifecycles and to see it today re-birthing as a self-sustaining organization. As such, she and the organization are able to work to address the issues of the new population of Puerto Rican migrants in New Jersey who are being forced off the island because of the economic crisis. Indeed, because of the changes Valencia has been forced by circumstance to implement, she and the Puerto Rican Congress of New Jersey are perfectly positioned to help.
