Peacemakers and Federacion Universitaria Pro-Independencia (FUPI) members forming a symbolic wall between the Puerto Rican people and the United States military, Puerto Rico, 1959. Puerto Rican activist Ruth Reynolds was fourth from left. The door pictured was the entrance to Casablanca, headquarters of the U.S. military command in Puerto Rico. One sign had the words, "Oponemos a la Dominacion militar y congresional E.E.U.U. en Puerto Rico" ("We oppose the military and congressional dominance of the U.S. in Puerto Rico").
