CENTRO: 100 Puerto Ricans Oral History Project, 2013-
Sanchez describes the painting “Para Filiberto” based on the Puerto Rican activist Filiberto Ojeda Rios. Ojeda Rios was the leader of an underground movement called “Los Macheteros”, which advocated for the independence of Puerto Rico. Sanchez explains that the composition represents the assassination of the activist and the elements that surrounded his movement.
